idiom's early web pages were created at the end of 1996. At this time there was a growing public debate about the use and content of the Internet. The media were regularly publishing sensational articles about it, America was drafting the Communications Decency Act and UK Internet Service Providers were being threatened with action by the police because of newsgroup content. So, when idiom was looking for something that was of sufficient interest to put onto this newly acquired Web space, the topic of Internet Content seemed an obvious first choice. Hence, this link - to the Campaign Against Censorship of the Internet in Britain - was idiom's first: The great internet debate ranges from the desire to control and censor information to the desire for complete freedom without license or accountability. This issue is likely to continue to tax the minds and views of everyone involved in the rapidly evolving global networked future. So, lets continue to "have a heated debate"...
